Many times we face this problem when  we forget or lost Windows password or somebody had changed the password of our system. In such a situation either we have to install windows again or find a solution to reset the password so that we can log into Windows easily. In this post, I will show you how you can reset the password on Windows easily with the help of your CD/DVD Drive without reformatting or reinstalling your system.. In this post I will use a CD/DVD Drive . Below are the steps to reset Windows password using bootable CD/DVD Drive.
Step1. Download Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 and save it to your hard disk. Take note of what folder you saved the file in.
Step2. Burn the downloaded ISO file onto a CD. * To burn your CD, you'll need a blank CD-R . * If you are familiar with burning .iso image files you may use any software you already have such as Nero, Sonic, Roxio etc.
Step 3. Put in your newly created CD and remove your Windows password.
(1) Insert newly created CD in your CD drive and reboot your computer. When the CD boots, you'll see Windows Password Recovery 3.0 initializing (see screen shot below). If so, you can continue to the next step. If the computer still boots into Windows, it's necessary to change BIOS boot sequence to make it boot from the CD. You can find more info about this on our BIOS page HERE.. (2). Select the user account you want to reset.

(3) Click the 'Reset' button to process.

(4) Click 'Yes' to confirm your action. Or, click 'No' to undo your selection.

How do I stop Windows screensaver asking for password?

Question:
Okay, I have one - I want to know if there's a way to change the time for the login screens to show up in Windows XP Pro? When I walk away from my computer, I come back to find out that I have to log in again. I really don't need my machine to time out like that because I am the only one that is using it. I do have a screen saver set up to go on after about 15 minutes but it's annoying to have to log in each time I come back to the computer.
Answers:
What you're seeing is the screensaver password protect feature of Windows XP. To disable this, you need to get into the Display Properties screen. There are (at least) two ways to get there. Right click on an open area of your desktop and click Properties, or go into Control Panel and double click Display.
Go to the Screen Saver tab, and uncheck the "On resume, password protect" box (you'll see it circled in the screenshot below). To leave the password protection but extend the time before a password is required, increase the minutes in the "Wait" box on that tab and leave the password protect box checked.
windows xp screensaver configuration
Before disabling it, be mindful of the potential consequences. Under certain circumstances the security provided by this inconvenience should be considered benefit enough to cope with it. This prevents anyone from walking up to your computer and having access to all of your data. If this is a home PC, that might not be of any concern. In small business environments where data is shared amongst everyone anyway, it's also probably not of much concern other than for certain staff that have access to data like payroll that is confidential.
Another thing to keep in mind is if this is a computer in a business with a server, chances are pretty good it's in a Microsoft Active Directory domain. At a very basic level, Active Directory puts all computers at a business within an organizational structure that centralizes resources and authentication (verifying your username and password), affording greater security, flexibility and control. One feature of Active Directory is the use of Group Policies which allow
administrators to define what users can and cannot do with their machines, including mandatory configuration settings.
It's possible to configure Group Policies so users cannot modify screen saver settings, including the time to wait before activating the screensaver and if users can disable password protection. Under these circumstances, even if you can disable the password protection it may get enabled again, and there isn't anything you can do about it (unless you're the server administrator). Also in a business environment, be mindful of any company policies that require password protected screen savers, even if it's not mandated through Group
Policy or similar technical controls.
In another case, you might forget the windows login password, then you can find some password recovery tools to remove windows password.

Lost Administrator Password in Windows 7 or Vista?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of ways you can lose access to your Windows logon account, one being simple forgetting the password. This happens ways more often than you would think!
But in reality, there are several ways you can end up losing access to an administrator account, including
  1. Setting a new password for an Administrator account and then forgetting the password.
  2. Deleting an Administrator account and not being able to log into another one.
  3. Changing an Administrator account to a standard user account and not being able to log into another Administrator account
  4. Windows 7 or Vista becoming corrupted and not accepting a correct password
I previously wrote an article on how to recover a lost Windows password using several third-party tool, but if that doesn’t work, you can try to gain access to the account using System Restore.
Note that in order for this to work, System Restore had to be enabled and there has to be a restore point that was created before you lost access.
To get started, pop in the Windows 7 or Vista DVD into your drive and restart the computer. Press a key when you get the Press any key to boot from CD or DVD.

If you don’t have a Windows 7 or Vista disc, you have to boot into the Advanced Boot Options screen and then choose Repair your computer.

Choose the Language, Time and current format, and keyboard. Then click Next. If you booted from the DVD, you’ll see the Repair your computer link at this step.

Now choose the operating system you want to repair. Then click Next.

Now click the System Restore link and find a restore point that you want to use.

Make sure to pick a restore point that is sufficiently past the date when you lost access to your Administrator account. Restart your computer and see if you can log in.
If you’ve managed to recover access to your Administrator account, you should think about creating a set of password recovery disks for Windows Vista or 7. So even if you forget the Administrator password, you can regain access using the disks. Enjoy!

An administrator password in Windows 7 is the password to any account that’s setup to access administrator level functions in Windows 7.

There are a few times when you will need this password. You may need an Windows 7 administrator password if you’re trying to run certain types of programs or access
certain Windows 7 recovery tools. Follow the steps below to quickly find the Windows 7 administrator password!
1.Try leaving the password blank. If there is actually an Administrator account, the password may not exist at all! Just press Enter without typing anything when asked for it
2.Enter the password to your account. Often times, depending on how Windows 7 was setup on your computer, the primary user account will also be an administrator user account.
3.Try to remember the Windows 7 administrator password. As I mentioned in the last step, your account might be an administrator account, especially if you installed Windows 7 on your computer yourself.
4.Have another user enter his or her credentials. If there are other users that have accounts on your Windows 7 computer, one of them may be setup with administrator access.
5.If this is true, have the other user designate you as an administrator as well.
6.Recover the Windows 7 administrator password using a Windows password recovery tool. You are able to recover or reset Windows 7 administrator password with Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0
7.Perform a clean install of Windows 7. This is a last resort option. This type of installation will completely remove Windows 7 from your PC and install it again from scratch. If you’re just curious about your administrator password, I wouldn’t suggest this extreme solution. However, if you’re needing the administrator password to access operating system diagnostic tools and this is your last effort to save your PC, performing a clean install will work. Keep in mind that it is a time consuming process due to the fact that all of your data must be backed up and then later restored.

Lost Windows XP password. How to login and start computer?

If you find yourself locked out of your Windows XP because you forgot or lost  login password, below are some things you can do.
  • First, do you have the administrator password? Login as an admin and change the password of your user ID. (Obvious Adams?)
  • NEW: If you are an Administrator user, and are logged into Windows right now because your PC is setup to log you in automatically, but have forgotten your password in fact, and would now like to change it — well, Windows requires you to know the old one. However, there is a brute force way to change your Administrator password. Open a Command prompt (START — > RUN — > then type “cmd” without the double quotes) and then type the following command: net user username newpassword
Remember, if the username has spaces in it, then enclose it in double quotes, e.g.,
    net user “Samuel Jackson” pulpypass
This would change Samuel Jackson’s password to pulpypass provided Samuel Jackson was an Administrator user.
  • Don’t have admin access? Well, you can get it if you wish by downloading a cool tool from Password Seeker to recover Windows password if you have forgotten it.
  • Or, you could just download this program to reset Windows XP / 2000 / NT security if the Administrator password, secure boot password, or the key disk is lost.
  • Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 can replace the administrator password of a Windows XP, Windows NT or Windows 2000 system by rebooting the computer with a special set of boot disks or CD-ROM (or usb flash drive). This is useful if you forgot the administrator password and cannot access the Windows XP/2000/NT system.
  • SmartDoctor has put together an Password Recovery Bundle, which can recover many types password included Windows systems.
CAUTION: Please use these tools at your own risk. I believe they are good ones, with good intent, but they should be used only if you know what you are doing.
Let me know how it goes.
